On the ward, our orthopaedic physiotherapists are involved from admission to discharge, providing individualised plans to assist patients to regain movement, strength and independence following injury or surgery. The team's priority is your recovery and ultimately a safe discharge home.

They work in partnership with the doctors and nurses to provide personal care to facilitate optimal recovery. This may include; exercises, education with and prescription of walking aids, gait re-education, practise on stairs, education and fitting slings and braces and advice on do's and don'ts.

On the ward the occupational therapist provides assessment and education on transition to home, safely and independently. This may include prescription of assistive equipment, including bathroom aids, seating and personal care devices.

Following your surgery, you may need ongoing physiotherapy and support prior to returning home. For this, Nowra Private Hospital Rehabilitation Unit is well-equipped to assist you in achieving your individual goals.

The Rehabilitation service provides specialised therapy areas, advanced equipment and a hydrotherapy pool. The hospital offers both inpatient and day programs for Orthopaedic patients, delivered by a multi-disciplinary team.

Rehabilitation will be discussed with you during your hospital stay at Nowra Private Hospital and if required you will be visited by the rehabilitation nurse specialist who will be able to provide you with detailed information.
