Dr Sarkar is general surgeon with interests in Upper GI surgery. He has
training in oesophago-gastric surgery, bariatric surgery, and
Robotic Surgery.
Having completed his surgical training throughout the southern network,
including St George Hospital, Wollongong Hospital and Nowra Hospital.
Dr Sarkar obtained his FRACS in 2020 and underwent further Upper GI
specialised fellowships at Wollongong hospital in 2020 and an Upper GI
and Bariatric fellowship in 2021 at St George Hospital which is one of the
highest volume bariatric centres in Australia.
In 2022, Dr Sarkar relocated to the UK to undergo a prestigious sub
speciality fellowship in Robotics/Oesophago-gastric Surgery at Queen
Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth University Hospitals NHS Trust. This is the
only one of its kind in the whole of the UK, and is endorsed and approved
by the Royal College of Surgeons England. There, performing high volume
oesophageal and gastric resections, bariatric surgery, and benign surgery
through minimally invasive and the Da Vinci Robot, Dr Sarkar gained
qualifications and is now an approved independent Robotic Surgeon
through Intuitive (Company for Da Vinci Robot).
Dr Sarkar also performs wide range of general surgery and
Endoscopy.
Dr Sarkar has always enjoyed working in the Illawarra/Shoalhaven region
and truly believes in the potential and growth of the region. He wants to
provide specialised treatment, tailored to each patient and delivered with
the utmost care. He believes care should be a joint effort, and he will work
with GP’s and patients to ensure that patients get the most effective care
and treatment.
